Around 1982, Reagan declared war on drugs, saying they were a “menace to society” and promising to do fight for a drug-free nation. As a follow up on Reagan’s promise, the Reagan Administration founded the “Just say No” drug awareness program. The program offered teens and young children various ways to say no to drugs. Reagan also passed a few anti-drug bills, spending over 1.7 billion dollars on creating drug free schools, streets, and workplaces. Reagan also nominated the first female Supreme Court Justice, Sandra Day O’Connor, marking a huge milestone for the advancement of women in society.
